Standards-Based Report Cards are Coming: Grades K, 1, 4, 5
Standards-Based Report Cards are Coming: Grades K, 1, 4, 5
As a part of our Strategic Plan, we have begun the process of shifting to a standards-based reporting system which is often referred to as standards-based grading. Standards-based grading is a system that evaluates students’ progress toward mastering specific year-end learning targets called standards. This 2024 - 2025 school year, grades K, 1, 4, and 5 will see a standards-based report card come home at the end of each trimester.
Why the shift to standards-based grading? Standards-based grading…
- Strengthens communication about student learning to better inform and empower families and to help build strong partnerships, which are critical to student success.
- Allows students and families to better understand which learning targets have already been mastered and which standards require further learning to reach mastery.
- Leverages a learner-centered approach, which encourages a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
We hosted an informational presentation for parents/guardians at the August 29 Winkelman Curriculum Night, and you can view the slides here.
