PTO November Newsletter - Kindness Edition

Sweater Weather!
We would like to express our gratitude to all who participated at our past dine and donate event at Popeyes! As a result, 20% of all the earnings for the day were donated to our D31 PTO!! What an amazing turnout for our first-ever Trunk-or-Treat! Thank you, Harini Wilkinson, for organizing such a fun event!

Our D31 PTO Executive Board, in partnership with Molly Frank and Alli at Book Bin Northbrook, successfully relaunched Birthday Book Cart. We were able to celebrate our students with August, September, and October birthdays by gifting them a book of their choosing with the help of a team of PTO member parents that brought the birthday book cart to the classrooms.

We had a successful Fall Book Fair due to Molly Frank’s and Grace Lin’s great work organizing this event. We also hosted our teachers' fall conference dinner with food from our partner at La Taquiza. We also celebrated our custodians, superintendent, and principals on their respective appreciation days. A Big thanks to CC Chan and Meredith King for leading the coordination of the dinner and gifts!

We launched a new initiative to help ease the task lists for our room parents, a purchasing program through our treasurer, Laura Stone. We have seen savings in being able to apply our tax-exempt letter to the purchases made for the Halloween parties at stores like Amazon, Target, and Discount Supply Store. Furthermore, it has reduced the wait for room parents to get reimbursement and deliveries are sent to the desired address given.

Up next is a special triple dine and donate at Cinnabon, Auntie Anne’s & Jamba!!!!
